Director and actor Rituparno Ghosh passed away in Kolkata. He was three months shy of his 50th birthday. Ghosh was reportedly suffering from pancreatitis. Rituparno Ghosh was born and brought up in Kolkata. He started his career in advertising and his directional debut was "Hirer Angti" (The diamond ring). He won the National film award for Best Director for his Bengali film "Abohoman."
Utsab, Titli, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, The Last Lear, etc are the names of some of his films. His last film was "Chitrangada (2012)" for which he won the special jury National Award. He hosted two celebrity chat shows, namely Ebong Rituporno on ETV Bangla and Ghosh and co. on Star Jalsha. He also was the scriptwriter of Gaaner Opare. Ghosh was suffering from pancreatic diseases and he died following a massive heart attack in his Kolkata residence at around 7:30 am on 30 May, 2013.
